Black Lace® Elderberry

Black Lace® Elderberry makes a dramatic landscape statement with finely cut purple-black foliage that gives the look of a Japanese maple on a tough, adaptable shrub. Broad clusters of soft pink flowers appear in early summer and can be followed by dark fruit when a compatible Sambucus nigra pollinator is nearby. Use it as a specimen, large mixed-border accent, or bold hedge, and give it at least part sun for the richest foliage color and best flowering.
